Sensory Based Play Groups

This play based enrichment class is designed for kids who are interested in an extra opportunity to engage in sensory based play and exploration in a safe space with peers under the guidance of a licensed occupational therapist. This enrichment class is semi structured with a group sensory based play activity in the beginning followed by sensory based free play time for the remainder of the class time.

Children ages 2-5 years
$150 for 6 week session / All supplies included
Maximum is 10 students

Social Skills Groups

These social skill groups are enrichment classes designed to focus on helping students practice basic social skills in a safe and supportive environment. Who could benefit from these enrichment classes? Anyone! It is not limited to but may be especially helpful for children/teens with the following diagnoses:  Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Developmental Delay, and Anxiety. Children learn important skills through play and interaction with others. The social skills groups will provide a mix of free play with peers, structured lessons/topics, modeling of skills between peers and instructor, video demonstrations, and integration of curriculum from Social Thinking products, You Are a Social Detective and Zones of Regulation. At the end of each class, parents are asked to come into the session for the last 5 minutes to review the lesson and discuss carryover of skills.

$240 for 6 week session / All supplies included

Mondays 4:30-5:30 PM / St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kingsport
Thursdays 4:45-5:45PM / Grandview Christian Church, Johnson City

Children ages 14-16
Saturdays 9-10AM / St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kingsport

Class/Group Requirements:

  • Social skill group enrichment classes are open to all students who are verbal and do not require one on one assistance from an adult or caregiver.

  • No history of physical or verbal aggression

  • Student is independent with toileting

  • Does not display elopement behaviors

  • Bullying will not be tolerated, and will result in dismissal

  • Destruction of property will not be tolerated and result in dismissal

  • Parents do not have to be present in the building during the class however must remain on the premises in case of emergency.

These groups are not meant to be a replacement for one-on-one based occupational therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy services.
